Parent Comment About the Guerrilla Season Book Blog Project

The following is a comment sent in from the parent of a South Valley Jr. High 8th grader:

My daughter is a student of Mr. Langhorst's. She and I are reading the book together. So far we have had several discussions about the characters and why they act like they do. We are both enjoying this opportunity to learn more about history and our state. Thanks for making this available to us!

I am too enjoying the opportunity to read thiss book. This book is a very good one, I say this because of the fact that it has many facts about our history and is full of information. Even though it is quite long it is still a very interesting book that hs my full attention!

I have also enjoyed reading Guerrilla Season, it has been a great book. It has a nice plot, wide variety of characters, and has a little action all mixed up in it. I would have to put this book on the list of my favorite books, and i would recomend it to anyone who likes to read books.

To Stephanie -

I'm so glad you're reading with your daughter and enjoying "Guerrilla Season."

I'd love to know if you're a Missouri native and if so, whether you had learned about Missouri's unique role in the Civil War when you were in school.

I'm from Liberty and I think it is very cool to have our town and other towns around us in this book.

I really like this book because there are alot of intersting facts in it. Another reason why i like the book is because i learned new facts about the slavery time period.

I am also enjoying this book. I didn't think I'd like it just because it's a requirement to read. But the plot is good and it makes sense.

I am enjoying reading this book along with my daughter, Jessie. As someone who is not from this area and doesn't know a lot about it's history, we're both finding this book very interesting to read and follow along the journey with such real characters and real situations.

I'm happy to hear that everyone has liked the book ... yeah, I know it can be a little tough to get into for some, but hey! So was "Middlemarch," and that's just about my favorite novel ever!

I'm especially pleased to hear from parents on this thread. I think it's so great to read along with teenagers and I'm so glad Mr. Langhorst is fostering that, and that I'm able to provide a good story while incidentally telling you about Missouri history!
